How to Make Thread in AutoCAD

Follow steps described bellow carefully.

Step - 1
Set 'units' to metric by 'UNITS' command

Step – 2
Create circle by 'CIRCLE' command as per required diameter

Step – 3
Create hexagon by 'POLYGON' command >enter no of sides: 6 >enter an option: inscribed in circle

Step – 4
Extrude hexagon by 'extrude' command >select hexagon and enter height as per requirement

Step – 5
Now create helix on hexagon by 'HELIX' command >specify center point of base: 5mm below from top face of hexagon >specify base radius: >specify top radius: >right click > select turn height > enter turn height =pitch of thread >specify height of helix: enter as per required length

Step – 6
Set front view: menu: view > 3d views > front

Step – 7
Create triangle: dimension of sides = pitch of thread – 0.05mm

Step – 8
Set view to 'sw isometric' menu: 3d views>sw isometric move triangle from corner and place to top helix end as shown in screen shot

Step – 9
Enter command 'sweep' >select object to sweep: tick on triangle >select sweep path: tick on helix set visual style:
Menu: view>visual styles>realistic

Step – 10
Make both objects to one: enter command 'UNION' select first object: tick helix select second object: tick hexagon

Press 'Enter'
